Well, not quite. But I ordered something and it came by mail. So.

Vel, egentlig ikke helt kanskje. Men jeg bestilte noe, og det kom i posten. Så.

Two boxes of two layers of yarn. More yarn to make more objects to sell. I've already started a tiny pair of socks, and I'm almost done with the two first sweaters, I just need to sew them together somehow. If you don't feel joy when seeing this much yarn, there might be something wrong with you.

To bokser med to lag med garn. Dette er til flere prosjekter som jeg forhåpentligvis skal selge. Jeg har allerede startet på et par med små sokker, og jeg mangler bare å montere de to første genserne. Om du ikke blir glad av å se slik mengder med garn, så kan det hende det er noe galt med deg. 

A Desire to Crochet // Heklelyst

In march, I bought a book that was on sale. I shouldn't have, but I did. I am weak for crochet books. In this book, there is a lot of good patterns on among others pillows, potholders and clothes. The name of the book is "Heklelyst" which can be translated to something like "A Desire to Crochet."

I mars kjøpte jeg ei bok på mammutsalg. Jeg burde sikkert ikke ha gjort det, men jeg har en svakhet for heklebøker. Boka heter Heklelyst og har mange fine mønster på mye forskjellig, blandt annet puter, grytekluter og klær.

After having browsed it for a good while I decided to check how much it would cost to make a few of the items. I have previously considered the possibility of me crocheting some items to sell. I just haven't gotten around to it, and I have also never made clothes, apart from a few pairs of socks. I think clothes will be items that are the easiest to sell. And I also think some of the retro potholders in this book would be popular. After having consulted my wallet I ended up ordering some yarn.

Etter å ha bladd en del i boka bestemte jeg meg for å sjekke hvor mye det ville koste å lage noen av de tingene jeg likte best. Jeg har tenkt på det før at jeg kunne hekle noen ting og selge de, for å tjene litt penger. Men jeg har aldri kommet så langt, og så har jeg heller aldri laget noe som ligner klær, sånn uten om sokker. Jeg tror klær er det som er enklest å selge, og så tror jeg at noen av de retrogryteklutene i boken kan være populære. Etter å ha rådført meg med lommeboka ble det bestilt litt garn.

Ah, the satisfaction of opening a box like this. This should be enough yarn for two sweaters. One in the shades of red and one in blue. The red one will fit 2-year-olds, supposedly, and the blue one 6-year-olds. If I do it right. Obviously, I don't have kids so I won't know more than the pattern tells me. But hopefully, buyers will know their kids' sizes. I ordered this to see if I can even make a sweater, but this pattern even says that it is a great pattern for people that has not made clothes before. If it all goes well I will make a few more of these sweaters, in addition to a couple of smaller items and perhaps some baby blankets. The goal is to participate in one of the street flea markets that are held in Hamar during the summer, to see if I can sell some of it. So stay tuned!

Gleden  man får av å åpne en slik boks kan ikke beskrives med ord. Dette skal liksom være nok til to gensere, i følge mønsteret. En rød og en blå. Den røde skal etter sigende passe en toåring og den blå en seksåring. Nå har jeg ikke jeg unger, så jeg vet ikke om det stemmer innen jeg er ferdig, jeg må bare stole på mønsteret og at foreldrene klarer bedømme sine egne barns størrelser. Nå skal jeg teste om jeg i det hele tatt klarer å lage en genser. Mønsteret sier at det er perfekt for noen som ikke har laget klær før, så jeg har troen. Om det blir vellykket kommer jeg forhåpentligvis til å lage et par til og noen andre småting og kanskje noen babytepper. Målet er å være med på et av de loppemarkedene som holdes i Hamar i løpet av sommeren og se om jeg får solgt noe av det.

Christmas Cards // Julekort

Just to get Christmas out of the way as soon as possible I'll start off with my Christmas cards! You better bookmark the idea for next December, because they are super fun and super easy. All were made from free patterns and with yarn scraps, so the only cost is glue and card stock. I myself treated myself to a glue gun right before Christmas, and this was my first project to be glued.

Bare for å bli ferdig med jula så fort som mulig, begynner vi med julekortene mine! Så det er bare å lage seg et bokmerke til neste jul. Disse var kjempeenkle og morsomme å lage og alle mønstrene jeg brukte er gratis, men på engelsk. De bruker ikke mye garn, så det er ypperlig mulighet til å bli kvitt noen rester. Før jul unnet jeg meg selv en limpistol og dette var første prosjekt jeg limte med den.

I went with black, white and brown card stock for these cards, as I thought the motifs should play the main part. I got them on ebay, but a craft store should have them. Colour is up to you!

Jeg gikk for svarte, hvite og brune kort, ettersom jeg ville at motivene skulle ha hovedrollen. Jeg kjøpte de på ebay, men en hobbybutikk burde vel ha slikt. Fargene er opp til deg!

I didn't have time to make to many. I made more than these six, but the others were duplicates. Next Christmas I will come up with some more options and ideas.

Jeg hadde ikke tid til å lage så mange som jeg hadde lyst til. Jeg lagde flere enn seks, men flere av dem var like. Neste jul skal jeg forhåpentligvis finne på enda flere ideer. 

Reflecting yarn // Refleksgarn

Yesterday I finally got some time to do some shopping. As a yarn, let's say, enthusiast, I was so happy when I heard of reflecting yarn. It is an acrylic yarn with strands of reflective material in it. And I just got so inspired by hearing about it. I two bought skeins in Sweden a few weeks ago, because I just had to have some, I couldn't really splurge on more, but yesterday I got to buy a bunch! I like the one I got here better, it has a better feel to it, but the pink from Sweden is prettier than the one they had here, so. (I have this thing for hot pink right now.) The two skeins from Sweden I bought at Rusta, and the ones from here I bought at Nille.

I går hadde jeg endelig tid til å shoppe litt. Som garnentusiast ble jeg veldig glad da jeg hørte at det fantes noe som ble kalt refleksgarn. Akrylgarn med refleksstriper i. Jeg ble kjempegira da jeg hørte om det første gangen. Jeg fikk kjøpt to bunter i Sverige for noen uker siden, det ble bare to, siden økonomien ikke helt tillot flere, men i går fikk jeg kjøpt masse! Jeg liker de jeg fikk kjøpt her bedre enn de svenske. De føles litt mykere, men den svenske rosafargen var mye kulere. (Jeg har en sånn knallrosa-ting gående om dagen.) Buntene fra Sverige kjøpte jeg på Rusta, mens i Norge ble det handlet på Nille.

And as a true yarnie I just had to make something with it straight away to see what it would look like. I chose to make an "African flower" (link) since I'm currently working on a throw in these African flower hexagons.

Og som en ekte garnoholiker, måtte jeg bare lage noe med en gang, for å se hvordan det så ut i bruk. Valget falt på en "African flower," ettersom jeg holder på med et ullpledd av slike om dagen. (link)

The reflective flower came out quite large. 16 cm from petal to petal. The flower size for the throw is about 9 cm. I used a 6.50 mm hook for the flower. I tried using a 5 mm first, but it just wasn't going to well. I don't really know what I could use the flower for, but I'll figure something out.  Having now made a sample I did get a feel of the yarn in use. The result is really soft, but I wouldn't use it for a headband, for example, as I think the reflective strands would make you itch eventually. My plan is to at least include a few rows of the yarn in my planned legwarmers, and maybe make a black paw print or two to sew on my winter jacket.

Refleksblomsten ble ganske stor, 16 cm fra blad til blad, mens de blomstene som skal bli teppe bare er 9 cm. Jeg brukte en 6.50 mm-nål etter å prøvd med en 5 mm uten videre hell. Jeg vet virkelig ikke helt hva jeg skal bruke en så stor blomst til, men jeg finner vel på noe. Det er jo alltids mulig å gi den videre. Etter å ha fått laget en liten ting med garnet har jeg funnet ut at jeg nok ikke ville brukt det til pannebånd eller generelt rett på hud, ettersom refleksstripene nok blir litt irriterende etter hvert. Planen er å bruke litt av garnet i mine planlagte leggvarmere, og kanskje lage noen poteavtrykk jeg kan sy på vinterjakka mi, siden jeg alltid glemmer å ta med meg refleks før jeg går ut. 

Paw print necklace.

O'hai. Yes I know, I'm a bad blogger. At least I always have pictures in my posts.

Now I almost blogged about my fathers birthday gift. Not good. I'll have to blog about it after the fact.

But anyway. I know I forgot to show you the paw print earrings I made, and I really should. Because they gave me the idea of making a paw print necklace. And you know what? It turned out better than I thought it would. I made it in pink, because it is a gift for my boyfriends little sister who turns 10 soon. But I do imagine it would look great in just about any color. Especially black. The paw pattern is here. The string is just chaining until it is the desired length, and then some more for the loop to put the button through. I bought a matching oval button, for easy fastening. I also considered to make the string longer and just tie it in the back, but for a 10 year old the button is probably the best solution.
This week I have been feeling bad, due to side effects from my antidepressant. But one of the days I didn't spend in bed I went out shopping. I bought some birthday presents for some of my best friends, an expensive sweater for myself and, Surprise, surprise; Some yarn. And buttons. The almost white yarn was cheap, the one next to it I bought for the colors and the two remaining was one sale and also won me over by color. Not sure what I'm going to use it for, but probably some earrings and other great ideas of the future. There are also four snap fasteners(If wikipedia is correct) for future handbag projects. In the little white envelope there are four plain black, small, round, two holed buttons for necklaces.

Also the latest week I've registered my hooks on Ravelry, they have a beautiful chart, where you also can ad notes for every single hook. I love it!


I've also fallen in love with this pattern; A short cape.(This is a link to Ravelry, the pattern is a free Ravelry download, but I'm not sure if you can see it.) I really want to make this one. I just think it would be great for winter. And this pattern for a long cape. (Also a link to Ravelry) It is published in this whatever it is. The only thing about this is that it is obviously reserved for Americans, since I can't find a place anywhere online that will ship to Norway! GAH! I want to make a long cape!!!

Yarn, books and tiny projects

Today I got my books! Okay, so one of them aren't exactly books, but hey! It still contains pattern to many different socks. Can't wait to try it out, but I think I'll wait till winter. After all I won't need them until then.

I also bought two new boxes for my yarn today. When I went home to my mother last week I visited my grandfather. He had gathered all the yarn my grandmother had, and I could choose freely. Of course I took it all. I think I am addicted to yarn, seriously! So I had to sort my yarn, and I decided to sort it after color and not type of yarn. I still know what kind of yarn I have, and I think it will be easier to search by color.

And the black and mixed colors I didn't have room for. When I stacked the boxes they were not as steady as they are supposed to be, because they are so full they bulge!

Since last time I've made some more earrings. I took a picture, but the lights was to bad, so I'll have to show it later. But I made pawshaped ones, square ones and heartshaped ones. I have also made cauliflower and broccoli from this "recipe." My last work in progress is a black necklace that I hope I can finish tomorrow. But I can't make any promises, as my boyfriend is coming tomorrow, and I haven't seen him in over a week. I know it isn't long, but I've been lonely and I've missed him.
