Earrings, again.

Now I can blog about my fathers birthday gift: potholders! I used a pattern that I think is copied from a book. (I borrowed it from a friend, so I'm not really sure.) I used a lot thicker yarn, so they came out a lot thicker than the original, but they are at least very isolating! As you can see they are made using two threads of two different colors. It starts up by the ring, working back and forth in the back loops only. Because I used thicker yarn and doubled it I used twice as much yarn as the pattern said. But I think they are lovely, and I'm most likely going to make a pair for my self in black and purple. Or maybe hot pink and black? We'll see.

Yesterday I felt a little better, so I decided to make some earrings of the yarn I bought last week. Using this pattern(It is basically the granny square.) I made a pair of each color.

I also took pictures of some of the other earrings I've made. The paw print earrings I've been talking about. And heart earrings from this pattern. As you can see they are meant to be a lot smaller, but I didn't have thin enough yarn. Yarn is expensive, so I tend to use what I've got. The black heart earrings are some of the first things I've made in a good while, where I've used cotton yarn in stead of wool. The paw prints I've also made in hot pink and gray. The pink I gave away to my mother and the gray is around here somewhere, I'm just not sure where. I also found a picture of some earrings similar to the first earrings I posted, just different colors, obviously. The green themed one I made for my mother, and the black and pink is mine.
Also yesterday, as I was so full of energy, I laid out all the crochet pattern books I have on the table and took a picture of them.

And I would like to point out that the pictures are horrible, huge and way off in just about any way possible in this post because I beat my mac asunder and in a last shot at saving it I formated it. It did in fact work, but I lost all of my applications, that included photoshop. After trying two of the free photoediting apps available I wanted to kill my self, and therefore I will not edit any pictures until I get my photoshop back.

The crocheted food project!

Okay. I predicted that I was going to make earrings the next month. But I went home to my mother and younger brother last Friday. My brother had just gotten some pots and pans to play with. But I had seen some crochet patterns making different foods and dishes, and thought it would be a fun thing to make for my brother. So these last days I've been making food he could serve with his new toys.

This is a slice of bread with cucumber slices and a slice of tomato. When I started this "project" I didn't have white and yellow(For sunnyside up eggs) but my mother had beige and brown yarn so that I could make a slice of bread. I first made it with only one "layer", but it just curled up and didn't work, so I made it double.(I'm probably crocheting to tight or using a hook that is to small. And this picture is taken before I made it double, it looks a little better now.) I used the pattern from this page. The slices of cucumber I composed on my own, starting with ch 2, then 6 sc in first ch, and just increasing the next round, switching color for the last round. The tomato slice pattern I found here. By the way, my brother had a friend over today and they came up to my room asking if I could make another slice of bread, because they wanted to make a sandwich. Having already used up (Almost) all of the beige yarn I had to use off white for the center of the bread and the rest of the beige as the crust(And it was not enough so the last side of it I had to make in off white) So now I has one slice of ordinary bread and one slice of white bread. I'll add a picture later.

This is actually the star of this project, but since I have no real system of my pictures it comes in second, forgive me. It is a hot dog in a bun with ketchup(I'll make the mustard later). And a pancake/lompe. He likes his hot dogs best in lompe(Seriously, I don't think there is a word for this in English, but check the wikipedia link) and therefore I thought he should have one. It also doubles as a pancake, if he would rather serve that. The hot dog pattern, with bun, I found here. The ketchup is just a chain of red yarn, in stead of being crocheted on. After all, no one cooks hot dogs with the ketchup or mustard on! The pancake/lompe I made on my own, it's just a spiral and increasing. Again I think I should have had a bigger hook, because it curles, but my brother said it was okay.

So here is my beautiful piece of toast once again, now with an egg on top. Also a whole, uncracked egg, and a leaf of lettuce. The sunny side up egg pattern I found here. The whole egg here. And the lettuce here. The fried egg was kind of a challenge, because of the yolk. I didn't make the last round of the pattern, because I thought it was to big. It was also a little hard to stitch on, but turned out ok. The lettuce I made because I actually promised my brother to make him a hamburger, but I have not yet found a pattern for it that I like. But anyway, the lettuce will fit in between the burger and the bun.

I ordered this book, because I like the pattern for the burger in it. How I know? Well, on Ravelry you won't only find the free pattern for your search, but also patterns from book, or that you have to pay for. I've already wanted to buy this book, now I just have an excuse.

I also ordered a book on how to crochet socks, and another book on amigurumi. You know what, I'll take a picture of my books as soon as my new order has arrived to show you guys.

But; I must say I love Ravelry. The search engine for patterns is great. You can find patterns to just about anything there!

Edit: I also made a few pairs of earrings, but I forgot to transfer the pictures, so they have to come in next post.

This weeks project.

So, after the weekend I still had some work to do, so I had to postpone the crocheting. Wednesday I could finally start crocheting again. I didn't feel like continue on the hook case, so I started making a red Mushroom. I started of course, right before my eyes shut them selves at night, and I haven't finished it yet. But I promise, I'll finish it. And I would have already, if it hadn't been for the package I found in my mailbox on thursday:

It is 250 hooks, to make earrings. I found this pattern, and got really inspired, as I have a friend of mine they would be perfect for. The hooks are beautiful, silver and bright! Okay, I'm obsessed with making things these day, and I get impatient with all my ideas and only two hands to work with. But at the moment I have a feeling it will be mostly earrings, in different shapes, colors and sizes. Here are the first two pairs.

Both pairs are gifts. The purple themed one for my landlady and the other pair for my friend.

Note: I changed the pattern a bit, because when I made them after the pattern they became to big, and curled up. In stead of chaining 4 I chain 3 and I use double crochets in stead of triple crochets. I still crochet 13 stitches around, and connect them the same way.
